I’m sitting here drinking Chai and eating dark chocolate because I love it!
Usually, I have so much going on in my head, things that people said or something I read. A dialogue begins, and I start writing in my head, which is why I wanted to start this blog thing anyway. Funnily, though, or not so funny, depending on my mood. Today is one of those days when I don’t have any thoughts or ideas, and definitely nothing to write about.
I’ll share an exercise I do when I feel like the energy is stagnant and not flowing freely in my body.
First, Chai and chocolate – just kidding, but not really. Dark chocolate (at least 85 %) does help. I am fully aware that this falls under the category of emotional eating, and, of course, I don’t condone this. However, a little piece of dark chocolate does really lift my mood enough so that I can take the next step, which is…
Move, I like to shake my body. Or put on my favorite song and dance, just moving to the beat or not. I also love to go for fast walks (maybe even a jog – whut). Then there is yoga. The power that movement has to move stagnated energy is well scientifically proven (probably). If it is, in fact, not confirmed, I am here to tell you that it works. The first step is hard, I know, but once you create the space and actually get moving, the rest will flow. Many people believe that they need to know a perfect sequence or specific postures for a particular reason, or that they must do a full 90-minute practice with pranayama and meditation to call it yoga. If you have time, go for it. If you don’t, still go for it, just not for too long. I think we’re too hard on ourselves for doing so many things because we have such high expectations of the outcome. When we are working on the subtle level expectations, get in the way. Let’s be honest, expectations tend to get in the way on every level, but maybe that is a topic for a different day.
Energy wants to flow; it wants to move through you. Any form of movement will do. just get moving, then STOP: I stop moving and allow myself to be with the stillness.
Energy can expand in the stillness. When you can allow yourself to become completely still, you will feel the areas of your body that are blocking the flow. Just become aware of the sensations you perceive at that moment. This awareness alone will shift energy and release so much stagnation, allowing you to tap into the infinite potential you truly are.
Trust me, Chai and chocolate taste so much better when enjoyed from a place of full awareness of infinite potential :)
